Amazon Go - the future of shopping

Following innovations in the delivery of groceries by Amazon which we covered in an earlier blog post here

The future of shopping looks like this, Amazon Go, a brilliant use of technology!

Amazon has opened a concept store in Seattle that uses technologies found in self-driving cars to replace cashiers! No more queuing and no more self service "item not found in bagging area" messages! To enter the store, customers simply open the Amazon Go app and place it to a sensor located on a turnstyle in the entrance way. The app uses computer vision, sensor fusion and deep learning to detect what customers take off the shelves and if you have a second thought about that chocolate bar and put it will track that too and take it out of your basket! When you’ve found the items you need, just walk out of the store and everything is charged to your Amazon account and you will be sent a receipt.

The store in Seattle is currently open to employees only in a Beta program, but if successful could be rolled out very quickly!
